RHMS Families,
As we enter Week 4, we are continuing to build on the momentum of a strong start to the second quarter!
Families, we also encourage you to make it a weekly habit to check your child's grades and academic progress. Take a few minutes each week to review assignments, celebrate successes, and address any missing work or areas where additional support may be needed. These simple conversations at home help our scholars understand that their education matters and that we are all working together to support their success.
Thank you, families, for your continued support and partnership. When home and school work together, great things happen for our scholars! Let's keep encouraging them to show up, give their best, and make every day count.
Teacher Workday
Please be reminded that Tuesday, November 3, is a designated Teacher Workday. There will be no school for students on this day, and students should not report to the building.
Attention 8th Grade Families: High School Is Right Around the Corner!
Rams Families, can you believe our 8th graders are already preparing for the next chapter of their educational journey? High school will be here before we know it, and now is the perfect time to begin exploring the many opportunities Durham Public Schools has to offer!
We encourage all of our 8th grade families to attend the DPS Showcase of Schools to learn more about high school options and find the best fit for your scholar's interests, strengths, and future goals.

Family Safety & Concern Reporting Form
At Rogers-Herr, student safety and well-being are our top priorities. To help maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive school community, we are introducing an anonymous Family Safety & Concern Reporting Form. This form allows families to share concerns about bullying, peer conflicts, inappropriate behavior, or other incidents without fear of retaliation. Our goal is to strengthen communication, address concerns proactively, and ensure every student feels safe, heard, and supported.
Your voice matters, and together we can make a difference!
***Note: This form is not monitored continuously and should not be used for emergencies. Immediate threats should be reported directly to school administration or emergency services.
PTA’s Corner
Our last PTA Spirit Night for 2026 will be at Pulcinella's in the Woodcroft Shopping Center on Tuesday, November 3. Dine-in or take-out all day from 11am to 9pm. Pulcinella's has something for everyone! There's pizza, pasta, salad, seafood, and even a children's menu! And don't forget the yummy desserts! This Spirit Night is on Election Day so go vote and go eat! A portion of every order is donated back to the RHMS PTA.
Character Counts
For the month of November, we are focused on the character trait Honesty/Trustworthiness:
Telling the truth
Not being deceitful, cheating, or stealing
Reliability—doing what you say you are going to do
Having the courage to do the right thing even when no one is watching
Building a good reputation (and caring about your reputation)
Being loyal-standing by your family and/or friends

Effective Communication
Open and consistent communication between home and school is essential to every child’s success. If you have an immediate concern or question, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher first, as they are the primary point of contact and best positioned to address classroom-related matters.
Should additional support be needed after speaking with the teacher, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s grade-level administrator. We are here to partner with you to ensure the best possible experience for your child.
