Five weeks in, and the greatness is showing! Each day at Rogers-Herr brings new opportunities for our scholars to discover their strengths, push themselves academically, and make their mark on our school community.

As we move into Week 5, our focus is simple: keep showing up, keep growing, and keep giving our best. Families, thank you for trusting us with your scholars and for continuing to be an important part of the Ram family. There is so much ahead of us, and we are excited about where this year is taking us.

Please note that Wednesday, August 19, is a Teacher Workday. There will be no school for scholars on this day.

Morning Dropoff

We want to share an important reminder regarding morning student drop-off. We have noticed that some students are arriving on campus as early as 7:00 a.m.

Please understand that 7:00 a.m. is too early for students to be on campus, as there is no staff supervision available at that time. For the safety and well-being of all of our scholars, students should not be dropped off before 7:30 a.m.

We welcome families to begin dropping students off after 7:30 a.m. Please help us by making the necessary adjustments to ensure your child is not left on campus unsupervised before that time.

If your family is unable to meet this expectation and you need to explore bus transportation options, please contact our Data Manager, Ms. Lisa Richmond, who will be happy to assist you.

Thank you for your partnership and for helping us ensure that all of our Ram Scholars arrive safely and are appropriately supervised.

In compliance with the new Protecting Our Students Act, Durham Public Schools is committed to ensuring that our students understand how to recognize and report inappropriate interactions with adults at school.

As a final reminder, during the week of August 17, Rogers-Herr will watch an informational safety video from the Center for Safer Schools. The video explains how to identify concerning behavior and encourages students to seek help if they feel unsafe.

During the viewing, two school staff members will be present to address concerns, ensure that students can ask questions, and connect students with resources if needed.

We invite all 7th and 8th grade families to join us for Curriculum Night on Thursday, August 20!

Curriculum Night is a great opportunity to connect with your scholar’s teachers, learn more about grade-level curriculum and academic expectations, and discover ways you can support your scholar’s success throughout the school year.

We strongly encourage all 7th and 8th grade families to attend. Your partnership makes a difference, and together, we will continue providing our scholars with the support they need to learn, grow, and achieve at high levels.

Open and consistent communication between home and school is essential to every child’s success. If you have an immediate concern or question, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher first, as they are the primary point of contact and best positioned to address classroom-related matters.

Should additional support be needed after speaking with the teacher, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s grade-level administrator. We are here to partner with you to ensure the best possible experience for your child.
