March Reading Madness
February 22-March 19

March Madness is just around the corner, which means March Reading Madness at Rogers-Herr! Students pay a dollar to get their ball “on the court” and earn a point for every page they read. Prizes, which include READ tattoos and an opportunity to Pie the Principal, will be given out as they reach certain point levels and successfully complete journal entries. The grand prize at the 1000 point level is an invitation to the March Reading Madness Pizza Party. A complete list of all the prizes and the rules are on the March Reading Madness flyer.

BATTLE OF THE BOOKS

Rogers-Herr will be participating in the NC Battle of the Books program again this year. Visit the Battle of the Books page for more information, as practices are underway as we prepare for our March 5th competition!

Thanks to all who made purchases at the Book Fair in December to support the Rogers-Herr Media Center! Information about our spring book fair will be coming soon!

February is
Library Lovers' Month

Students are encouraged to show some love for the Rogers-Herr library by bringing in overdue books and paying fines owed. Students who clear their accounts will get a kiss from Ms. Umbarger—a Hershey’s kiss, that is. Don’t owe anything? All students in good standing will get a chocolate kiss as Language Arts classes come in for circulation in the month of February.

North Carolina
Young Adult Book Award Program

Looking for a chance to give your opinion on which book is the best? Then here's your opportunity! Read at least 4 of the books on the NCYABA Middle School List and in March you will be able to vote for your favorite. After you've read a book, please visit our blog to leave your thoughts. All students at Rogers-Herr are invited and encouraged to participate in this program.
