Algebra Camp

Discover Engineering
Discover Engineering is a week-long day camp for middle school students (rising 6th – 9th graders). Students experience engineering through hands-on, creative investigations and building activities. The camp will show students what engineering is about including how engineers are involved in everyday products like CD’s, shampoo, and food. Imhotep Academy
Imhotep Academy introduces under-represented students (African-American, Hispanic, Native American, and Women) in 6th – 8th grades to science, mathematics and technology at NC State University. The program uses laboratory experiments, research projects, classroom instruction, and field trips to introduce students to the rigorous and exciting worlds of chemistry, mathematics, marine, earth and atmospheric sciences, physics and statistics. Kyran Anderson Academy
The Kyran Anderson Academy is designed to enhance a student’s enthusiasm for science and mathematics. The program demonstrates that science and mathematics can be fun and are important to everyday life. The program features scientists and inventors from underrepresented groups. NC-MSEN Summer Scholars Program
The NC State University NC-MSEN Pre-College Program offers a 2-week summer program on NC State’s campus. The program provides classes in math, science, and technology for middle and high school students, and a class in cultural awareness (for middle school students only). The main focus of the program is to prepare students for the math course they are taking in the fall. Students are grouped together according to their current math class (from the 2007-08 school year). Middle school students must attend the full-day program while high school students have the option to attend for a half-day or a full-day. Students must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher to participate in this program.

Study Skills Course for Middle School Students
The Study Skills Course focuses on organization, learning strategies, and test-taking skills. The course is one-week long, and students are grouped by grade (6th – 8th). For more information, visit the Study Skills Course website.
Young Writers' Workshop
The Young Writers' Workshop, a nonresidential writing camp, brings 4th – 8th grade students to the NCSU campus to study creative writing with published NC writers. The two-week, afternoon workshop offers classes in fiction, poetry, and drama every summer. Other classes in science fiction and creative nonfiction are offered when teachers are available.
