The Administrative Team
Dr. Kecia Rogers
As a native of Durham and a product of Durham Public Schools, I have more than twenty years of experience as an effective educator working in Durham Public Schools. I earned a Bachelor’s and Master's degree in Elementary Education as well as a Master’s degree in School Administration from North Carolina Central University. In addition, I earned a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from High Point University. I am happily married with two children. All of my experiences as a teacher, administrator, wife, and mother have prepared me for the challenging yet rewarding profession as an inspiring visionary and strong instructional leader.
One of the first things you will notice about me is that I am very much a teacher at heart and by action. First and foremost, I believe school is about students and learning. Everything we do and the decisions we make are based on our students’ needs. I love children and enjoy being in the classroom. I am a servant leader and view myself as a leader of leaders. Students, teachers, families and the community should be inspired and empowered to act within a school community. Leading with my heart, head and hands are key characteristics of my leadership style.
As an instructional leader my mission is to put students’ needs first while promoting academic excellence and closing achievement gaps. Fostering a collaborative learning community in which all stakeholders problem-solve and analyze data to meet the individual needs of every learner is my commitment. Consistent two-way communication between school, home and the community are key to our success.
My personal mantra is to Engage Students, Support Staff, Involve Parents, Accept No Excuses, & Pass it on! I look forward to our incredible journey, collaboration and partnership of continued overall excellence at Rogers-Herr Year-Round Middle School. Thank you in advance for your overwhelming show of support, input and partnership as we work together to ensure all students reach their maximum potential and continue to grow.
Greetings Everyone! I am Lance Scott, Assistant Principal at Rogers-Herr. This is my sixteenth year here at Rogers-Herr and my thirtieth year in education. I really enjoy being a part of the Rogers-Herr family. My main responsibilities at Rogers-Herr this school year are Seventh Grade, Eighth Grade Explorers and facilities. I received both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from North Carolina Central University. I love to spend time with my family, sing, read, and go to the movies. I believe that we must create a loving and nurturing environment in order for children to learn. This is done through a collaboration between the home and school.
